5 Highlights of Tesla’s AI Day That Show Full Autonomous Vehicles Are Soon Taking To Our Roads

Tesla’s AI Day took place on August 19th, 2021 at the automaker’s Silicon Valley headquarters in the South San Francisco Bay Area of California, US.

The aim of Tesla’s AI Day was to demonstrate the scale of effort in algorithm data adaptation to solve autonomous driving problems and the general real-world robotic perception.

The highlight of the event was all about the presentation about Project Dojo, Full Self-Driving, Tesla Bot, and neural network.

An artificial neural network is an interconnected group of nodes, inspired by a simplification of neurons in a brain, which coordinate the execution of commands.

Tesla’s neural network supports its Autopilot and Full Self Driving (FSD) technology. It’s basically a series of algorithms that endeavors to recognize underlying relationships in a set of data through a process that mimics the way the human brain operates.

Project Dojo is Tesla’s super-computer. The computer helps label and train the neural network using the video data from the cars. Dojo is said to be one of the most powerful supercomputers in the world.

Tesla Bots are humanoid robots that use artificial intelligence to take over mundane tasks for people. Tesla CEO Elon Musk said during the AI Day that Tesla would build a prototype by 2022.

During the AI Day, Tesla provided an inside look at what’s next for AI at Tesla beyond the normal electric vehicle fleet that the company manufactures.

The first demonstration was a Tesla vehicle using Full Self Driving (FSD) being driven on a normal road with pedestrians, bicyclists, stop signs, traffic lights, etc.

The self-drive Tesla car navigated through without any incident navigates tight streets and makes numerous left turns.

The autonomous Tesla car goes through many scenarios to demonstrate how it stays on track with its own navigation, similar to what a person would do. The car lets other cars on the left pass, changes lanes, and basically observers all traffic rules without any human input.

The video is meant to boost confidence with Tesla’s customers who will be buying fully autonomous cars in the near future. It shows how the company has invested heavily in its IA technology to ensure safety, comfort, and efficiency.

N/B: Tesla is a serious AI company. They are using AI to make their factories, electric vehicles, and renewable energy. They can easily apply that AI to other horizontal opportunities. To see Tesla as only an auto company is missing the mark.
